Once again, I’m taking part in Loren Eaton’s Advent Ghosts shared storytelling event. The premise is simple: tell a creepy or ghostly tale in exactly 100 words, in classic spooky Christmas tale style.
My contribution this year is called Guest Story.
Jenny sipped her mulled wine. Amazing they’d found this old house for so little money. Huge and rambling, the children and grandchildren loved it, rampaging upstairs while the adults sat by the log fire.
Little Katie appeared at the door, tears streaming down her face.
“What is it, poppet?”
“A lady chasing me! She stepped through the wall.”
Jenny held out her arms. “Oh, there’s no one else here. Only us.”
The other children arrived. They were all there, all safe. Some silly game they were playing.
Then, from above, Jenny heard the slow, quiet footsteps. Heading towards the stairs.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, all! As the man said, let’s hope it’s a good one, without any fear.

OH DEAR. I think the listing agent left out one little detail …
Ahhhhh! Very creepy. I love it.
Dun dun DUN!
🙂
I think I know why the house was so cheap 🙂
Good reprise of a classic.
Another excellent contribution to Advent Ghosts by Mr Kewin.
